LENG TCH'E Drummer, Guitarist Quit
June 12, 2007Sven De Caluwé (vocalist of the Belgian gory death metallers ABORTED) has quit his gig as the drummer of Belgian razorgrind warriors LENG TCH'E. His statement on the matter reads as follows:
"After devoting six years in doing everything for LENG TCH'E, things in the past year have become less and less enjoyable for me to be in the band for several reasons. For me music is still about having fun with what you are doing and this wasn't the case for a while now in LENG TCH'E so I have finally decided to quit the band and focus on other things. This has been a hard decision since I did everything for over six years for this band to make it become what it is today but it's time to move on. Following this decision [guitarist] Peter [Goemaere; ABORTED, ex-EMETH] has decided to leave the camp as well since it won't be possible for him to combine it with the ABORTED schedule. I will, however, not be quitting playing drums, and will be working on a new project in the near future. That is all."
LENG TCH'E's latest CD, "Marasmus", was recorded in September 2006 at CCR studios in Belgium and was mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström. Mastering was done by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New York. A "heavier and more measured bludgeoning than previous records," "Marasmus" sees the band incorporating more pronounced death metal riffage to their pummeling grind assault, according to a posting on the Relapse web site. "Marasmus" finds LENG TCH'E "maximizing their already lethal damage per square riff ratio with a more deliberate sense of pace. An absolute blinder of a full-length, 'Marasmus' puts LENG TCH'E squarely at the forefront of the modern extreme scene."
